Bead Knitted Bags, Vol. I
by Cindy Hulsey Cindy has authored a couple of compact little books with everything you need to know to bead knit small bags. Cindy relates that she is a beader first and knitting is an addition to her bead world. As such, she has written her instructions with the beader in mind and taken out the confusion you may find in traditional knitting instructions so you can bead knit with ease. You only need to know basic knitting using the knit stitch, no pearl stitch required. She also includes some bits of crochet such as crocheting a strap, again very basic stitches. There are four bag patterns, two can be worn like amulet bags and two are coin/credit card size. They are worked in "Swag" style, loops of beads between lines of stitches. Only three stitch terms are required for these patterns. Cindy has laid each pattern out with a row by row count or group of rows that are a repeat. She also tells you at the end of each row group how many segments of bead group you should have which helps immensely to those new to knitting. Information and tips for frames and linings are included. Two of the bags do not require frames and the other two patterns do. Frame size is identified for each bag. If you have been wanting to try bead knitting but felt intimated by the seemingly complex instructions in most bead knitting books, Bead Knitted Bags, Vol. I is a good primer for you and you will have lovely bags to cherish when finished. |
