Nancy’s book is a bead crochet how-to for wearables and accessories.  There are seven projects; a poncho for a child and her dolls, a poncho for mom, flower embellishments, a tote bag, small bag and a tassel scarf.  All the projects include instructions for making the item and then adding bead crochet as embellishment.

You need to know basic crochet before working these patterns.  A basic primer is included; however, those new to crochet will enjoy the instructions more if they are already comfortable with basic crochet stitches.

The instructions include the skill level required for each project.  I decided to make the Beaded-Tassel Scarf and it was listed as Intermediate Skills required.

The instructions were easy to follow.  The only difficulty I experienced was keeping my eyes on the correct row while crocheting.  I kept looking back at the wrong row off and on and had to pull my yarn out three times before I finally used my brain and stuck a ruler down next to the row I was working on to keep track.  I used Amore’, also a Coats & Clark yarn, instead of the recommended yarn.  It is soft and fuzzy and the stitches are a little more difficult to see, however, it drapes beautifully.  I got off the track after making the scarf and created my own bead crochet tassels.  I really like the scarf pattern; it is very different from most motifs I have worked before, it is puffy and makes bumpy holes within the scarf.  I will use the motif again in the future.

I believe an advanced beginner would have no problem with this pattern.

I am sure you will find Nancy’s projects fun and give you ideas for adding beads to other items in your wardrobe.
