| Free Stuff for
Quilters on the Internet by Judy Heim
& Gloria Hansen ISBN 157120-081-9, Softbound, 176 pages, 1999, C&T Publishing, P.O.Box 1456, Lafayette, California 94549 Well, here we go yet again! C&T has got to quit coming up with these wonderful books that have all the things that answer all the questions that we may ever have about anything to do with sewing! (Whew, Ive got to stop and breathe after that statement!) The title of the book tells it all, "Free Stuff for Quilters on the Internet." Just like their others, this one begins with several pages of how to do the browsing thing in case you are one of the computer-challenged people. Thanks to this book and the one for stitchers that Ive already told you about Im no longer quite as dumb as I thought I was. With their help you can immediately surf to a desired site and begin to download and print to your hearts desire. This particular book is geared toward quilters but there is a fine line that gets crossed back and forth if you sew at all. This little gem also gets into embroidery, fabric dyeing, shows and contests and tons of other stuff that is interesting to others besides quilters. The sites listed for the caring and cleaning of quilts are worth the price of the book. The things learned apply to all textiles. One of the big delights of the book are the authors. Scattered throughout are tips in boxes that describe some of the personal experiences with the sites that they have had. Where they have found the time to sew and surf and write I will never understand. Maybe their next book will be "Free Stuff on the Internet to Get Me Organized"! If it is I will be first in line to buy it. Their other books have proven effective for me and well worth the cost! Another great C&T publication to put on my shelf. (Of course, its going to take me the rest of the year to download everything I know I cant live without. Arent floppys just the most wonderful thing invented?) |
