C&T Publishing has produced another work of art featuring Judith Montano’s work.

I buy her books for the glimpses into her sketchbook. I like to use them because they have wonderful and easy to understand directions.

This new one is a Sister to “Elegant Stitches.”  Being a strong family person I just had to have it.  Sister’s should always be friends and stay together! This book is the same size, format and has all the wonderful photography and instructions that we have come to expect. The difference is that “Floral Stitches” concentrates on flowers, not just a couple either! Judith in her usual, thorough manner shows you all the differences in petal shapes, leaf shapes, berry shapes and how to achieve them with your needle, ribbon and threads.

The book begins with conversations about other needle designs, preparing the background for the needlework, color theory and finishing the piece. The next section separates flowers and their parts into shapes and lists different stitches that you might want to use to achieve spectacular results!

The body of the book is devoted to wonderful photos, color drawings and the easy to follow text necessary to stitch out your bouquet or garden. There is even a floral alphabet included.

The last 25 pages or so are devoted to the eye candy that Judith Baker Montano is known for.  This glimpse into her life and thoughts is a wonder to me. She is so inspirational. Would that she could be my sister and I could perch myself on the shelf next to her!

Whether you embroidery with silk ribbon or not this is a beautiful book.  It belongs in the library of anyone who does handwork of any kind.
